Levels of Membership


Nonprofit Member

Any nonprofit organization interested in supporting the mission of the League which has mounted at least one Qualifying Production (see definition below) per year in three of the past five years, with one or more production in the last three years produced in a Greater Los Angeles theater with fewer than 100 seats.

What is a qualifying production?

A production can be a Qualifying Nonprofit Production if it meets all of the following criteria:

  • Production budget of $10,000 or more
  • Produced in a theater with fewer than 100 seats in a theater within Greater Los Angeles
  • Produced with a run 12 or more performances and must have opened in the last five years
  • Produced under TPLLA’s approved Standards and Practices.
  • If Produced as a co-production, both producers or producing entities may count the production towards their membership eligibility
  • Access to All Benefits of Membership
  • Must be a non-profit legal entity
  • Service and representation on one or more committees
  • Voting at board elections and League policy ratification
  • Bound by League production standards
  • Authorized to promote work using TPLLA logo/sbranding
  • Sliding scale dues based on most recently completed Form 990 or 990-EZ

For-Profit Member

Any corporation, LLC or other for-profit entity interested in supporting the mission of the League which has mounted at least one Qualifying Production (see definition below) per year in three of the past five years, with one or more production in the last three years produced in a Greater Los Angeles theater with fewer than 100 seats.

What is a qualifying production?

A production can be a Qualifying For-Profit Production if it meets all of the following criteria:

  • Production budget of $10,000 or more
  • Produced in a theater with fewer than 100 seats in a theater within Greater Los Angeles
  • Produced with a run 12 or more performances and must have opened in the last five years
  • Produced under TPLLA’s approved Standards and Practices.
  • If Produced as a co-production, both producers or producing entities may count the production towards their membership eligibility
  • Access to All Benefits of Membership
  • Must be a for-profit legal entity
  • Service and representation on one or more committees
  • Voting at board elections and League policy ratification
  • Bound by League production standards
  • Authorized to promote work using TPLLA logo/sbranding
  • Sliding scale dues based on most recently completed annual producing budget

Independent Producer

Any individual person producing from personal revenue; who is interested in supporting the mission of the League; who has has mounted at least one Qualifying Production (see definition below) per year in three of the past five years, with one or more production in the last three years produced in a Greater Los Angeles theater with fewer than 100 seats.

What is a qualifying production?

A production can be a Qualifying Independent Production if it meets all of the following criteria:

  • Production budget of $15,000 or more
  • Produced in a theater with fewer than 100 seats in a theater within Greater Los Angeles
  • Produced with a run 12 or more performances and must have opened in the last five years
  • Produced under TPLLA’s approved Standards and Practices.
  • If Produced as a co-production, both producers or producing entities may count the production towards their membership eligibility
  • Access to All Benefits of Membership
  • Must be non-incorporated
  • Service and representation on one or more committees
  • Voting at board elections and League policy ratification
  • Bound by League production standards
  • Authorized to promote work using TPLLA logos and branding
  • Sliding scale dues based on most recently completed annual producing budget

Associate

Any producer or producing organization interested in supporting the mission of the League.

  • Access to All Benefits of Membership except the right to vote or use of League logo/branding in production marketing
  • Not bound by League standards.
  • Service and representation on one or more committees
  • $50 annual dues
